Can you include two mediators in process model 5? Question3 answers
Hello all, I am conducting research on the effects of podcast ads on listeners’ attitudes toward the brand and toward the advertisement. I use two mediators (not serial): credibility host and credibility ad and one moderator: parasocial relationship. I thought I could use PROCESS MODEL 5 twice for this (once for attitude toward the brand and once for attitude toward the ad): For example first run:
- Y variable: Attitude towards brand X variable: Type of advertisement (0 = pre-roll, 1 = native advertising)Mediators: Credibility towards podcast host AND Credibility towards the ad Moderator: Parasocial relationship. I created two groups based on the median: low (=1) and high (=2).Model Number: 5Confirmation intervals: 95Number of bootstrap: 5000In options: Effect size, No centering, 3 decimal places, Conditioning values: 16th, 50th etc.
Now someone says I can’t use two mediators in process 5. Can anyone tell me if this is true?Relevant answerPiyush Sharma
AnswerYes, but only if the two mediators are independent of each other. If you would like to as sequential mediators, please use Model 6.View

Dear Doctors and PhD students in neuroscience and related subjects,I am an MSc student -Applied Neuroscience trực tuyến MSc programme KCL-. I have just started working on a systematic review on craniopharyngipma. As this tumor type is extremely rare studies related are fairly limited. So, I have been able to begin screening studies independently. Now that I started using Covidence I would like begin cooperating with more experienced individuals who would be interested in regularly checking my progress. Pointing me in the right direction would certainly be enough. Of course hierarchy we will be respected all times, especially in case this project evolves into something that could be of interest to experts in the field ir of publishable quality. I have identified two main gaps in this research, one quantitative and one qualitative. Starting with the qualitative gap would help me proceeding faster I suppose But, I am certainly keen to listen to more experienced advice.I will certainly provide further information about everything to whomever wishes to guide me through this process. Thanks in advance for your time.Kind regards,M Tauro Relevant answerKen Drinkwater

I’m studying the relationship between Reading skill and 3 other skill (Listening, Writing, Speaking), but what method mesure it precisely ? Question9 answers
Reading is essential tool for learning language. It seems to be a collaboration between 4 skill (Read, Write, Listen, Speaking). But one affect other in varible way. A person can read but can’t write, can speak well but can’t hear the same level of other skill. It is easy to see the reason behind it but i don’t know exactly how to mesure the different level between Read and 3 other skill. Is there a method to transcend this affection to data ? Relevant answerMuhammad Amjad
AnswerAs we all know that listening and speaking are the primary skills, and reading and writing are the secondary skills. The primary skills are developed automatically being a thành viên of a society, but the secondary skills are taught and learnt. If you just decide and plan to measure the relationship among reading and other three skills, and you are thinking of how to measure, I would like to draw your attention to the following areas so that your can exactly do what you want to do.1- Why do you want to measure this relationship?2- In which area do you want to measure this relationship? For example, reading speed, use of vocabulary and benefits in practical life can be measured.4- What do you want to prove or disprove from this relationship?5- First write the title of your paper/thesis and then write this questions. It can help the researchers to know how many variables are there in the title. Moreover, it is also important to establish a relation between variables and their impacts in some particular area. View

How do experts teach concepts they know TOO well?Question4 answers
Listening to Richard Feynman’s 1985 book “Surely you’re joking Mr Feynman” it became quite clear the number of instances he understood things easily that his colleagues and other very respected scientists could not, was so overwhelming it even baffled him. He stated it’s as if people don’t know what they know and their method for understanding seems rote. Failure before success gives people the advantage of understanding things better. But if you’re born great, you don’t really have to think too hard, it just makes sense. My question is, how can someone like Feyman explain or teach concepts when it’s difficult to imagine not knowing?Relevant answerOswell Namasasu
AnswerBeing an expert in a subject area, while essential, does not on its own make one a good teacher. One needs additional skills in pedagogy/andragogy. These help one to build upon and relate to learners’ backgrounds and prior knowledge, to move from the simple to the complex, to motivate learners and to empathize with them when they encounter problems in acquiring new concepts. Why, despite many years of listening to radio waves from space, no other civilizations of intelligent beings have been discovered in space?Question32 answers
Why in spite of the many years of listening to radio waves emitted from various parts of the cosmos, did not there appear such, which would mean the possibility of existence in another cosmos of intelligent creatures? For several dozen years, various astronomical programs have been running radio-frequency listening programs of various emission ranges to diagnose those that could be a testimony that somewhere in another constellation there is or has existed the civilization of other intelligent beings. However, up to now, it has not been possible to diagnose such waves that could confirm the existence of other intelligent beings in the cosmos and thus other, developed forms of life. Why has not it worked so far?Why in spite of the many years of listening to radio waves emitted from various parts of the cosmos, did not there appear such, which would mean the possibility of existence in another cosmos of intelligent creatures? Please, answer, comments. How do you think can we use TED Talks application as an extensive listening material?Question3 answers
The purpose of extensive listening is to develop listening fluency, which is supposed to navigate learners to progress routine procedure of the certain language while it is done correctly. It is very an important point to choose listening activities according to the learners needs and levelsRelevant answerAna Koceva
AnswerTED talk is an excellent tool for improving listening skills, but also for speaking and reading comprehension. For example: your students listen to the video once and you check their comprehension by some of the questions that are offered below the video (this is possible for edTED) or you can add your own questions. In this way you check listening comprehension and simultaneously studentsbpractice speaking. Thirdly all videos offers transcript that can be reread (helping reading skills) and later an interesting points/paragraphs can be discussed or translated or you can work on certain terms and add vocabulary exercise for that terms etc.View

Which and How to use teaching strategies and procedures to effectively integrate the four skills while teaching English Language Online?Question7 answers
As an inexperienced teacher in the field of trực tuyến teaching, I have the fear of unconsciously ignoring one of the skills while focusing on not ignoring the other! Therefore, I wish to make use of your experiences with distance learning/teaching in the field of integrating the four skills-listening, speaking, reading, and writing- in the language course.Note: the context of teaching is Algeria, hence, some limitations exist concerning the availability of internet and computers.Relevant answerAbdelrahman Abdalla Salih
AnswerOnline or distance teaching has its implications on learners. One of the direct consequences of distance learning is the type of educational platform an institution adopts and uses. Features of these platforms determine which skill is prevalent and more rapid in use. I have found interactive oral skills to be most affected followed by writing and then reading. Students listen most of the time while attending trực tuyến classes with less willingness/chances to interact verbally. View

In what languages can ‘hear/listen’ also mean ‘be effective’?Question5 answers
In both Japanese and Korean, the verbs meaning ‘hear/listen’ is homophonous with the verb meaning ‘be effective/work’ as in ‘The medicine works’ or (having castigated someone) ‘That worked’. Because this same situation obtains in two (not closely related) languages, I assume that there must be some semantic linkage between these two semantic notions, and I would therefore expect to see the two notions being represented by the same word in some other languages. Do you know of any other languages where the word for ‘hear/listen’ also means ‘be effective’?Relevant answerمحمود الضبع Mahmoud Eldabh
AnswerIn the Arabic language the meaning of these words is determined by the context in which they are spoken and not in the lexical or semantic sense, and in some contexts (emotional, Situational , linguistic, cultural) ‘hear/listen’ meaning ‘be effective/work’ View

What is the definition of a base point and what are its uses?Question1 answer
What is the definition of a base point and what are its uses? The source in the first comment is a base point that shows a unit of interest rate change, where one basis point means 1 per 100 of 1% 0.0001 or 0.01% or simplifying 100 basis points equal to 1% (Bp / bps / bips) used to explain the increase or decrease in interest rates or ratios generally without ambiguity. For example, if the company's profit margin is 10% and the company announced that it will increase this margin by 10%, it may come to mind that the margin will become 11% It may come to mind that the margin will be 20% and thus to remove confusion it is more accurate to say: the company's profit margin will increase by 100 basis points and therefore It is easy for the listener to explain that the new margin will be 11% # basis pointsRelevant answerNidhal Kamel Taha El-Omari

Communication Mechanisms of Nodes in LoRaWAN?Question1 answer
LoRaWAN defines three classes of communication.
In summary, class A transmits the data then listen on RX1 and RX2, class B periodically listen on RX2 on defined time slots, Class C always listen to RX2 unless it transmits. Moreover, Class C listen on RX2 after transmitting directly for a short period than open RX1 to listen. I know that upload is the most used and tải về rarely used unless there is acknowledgement for a message or updating parameters to reconfigure the device, etc.
My question is why Class B and C devices usually listen on RX2 and class A not listen unless it transmits?
For example, why class A does not listen to RX2 before transmitting? Latency of one second will not be a problem. In this case class A mechanism will be as follow: A data ready to send –> listen on RX2 –> transmit –> listen on RX1 –> listen on RX2. While the current mechanism of class A is: transmit –> listen on RX1 –> listen on RX2. Relevant answerMuhammad Asad Ullah
AnswerThat is why Class A has the lowest power consumption. To ensure the long battery life, LoRaWAN has the functionality to enable a deep sleep mode when device is not communicating. In “A technical overview of LoRa® and LoRaWAN” document, you can find Class A and Class B are battery-powered while Class C rely on main powered actuators.://lora-alliance.org/sites/default/files/2022-04/what-is-lorawan.pdfView

How to assess the feasibility of introducing listening skill to the examinations SSC level?Question4 answers
In many countries, English is taught as a compulsory subject in schools but the listening skill is not tested in the examinations. The authority sometimes says that it is not feasible to introduce tis skill to the examination system. Relevant answerNorkhairi Bin Ahmad
AnswerTo test listening as a mass real-time high stakes test for big group of test takers (such as in big examination hall) requires proper planning especially in terms of the logistics and technology. Preparing the audio stimulus, questions and rubrics shouldn’t be a problem. Audio quality could be affected by air friction from air conditioning systems, fans, or if test is administered on a rainy day with thunderstorms etc. Due to this practicality issue listening assessments are usually administered in a more conducive language lab environment for smaller groups of language learners and not for mass exams.View

How to do a Repeated measures analysis with not normal distributed data?Question13 answers
I have results from a listening test in 12 sound environments which are build up out of 3 room properties and 4 occupancy rates. Since the sound samples were often intelligible, subject scores were relatively high causing my data to be not normally distributed (as an example see the histogram of the amount of correctly recognized sentences in one of the 12 sound environments). My plan was to look the effect of the room properties and occupancy rate on the amount of errors made by participants. Therefore my plan was to use a Repeated measures analysis or variance (ANOVA) with as factor the room properties and occupancy rate. Since the data does not meet the assumption of normality for an ANOVA test, I was wondering how I could get the desired statistical information with a non-parametric test. I tried to use the Friedman one way ANOVA with a Post Hoc pair wise comparison. But since I am new to statistics and I could not define data as an factor, the test did not provide the data to answer my question regarding the influence of room properties and occupancy rates on the produces errors. Does anyone have an idea how I could tackle this problem?
Relevant answerJochen Wilhelm
AnswerI suggest using a beta-model or a quasi-binomial model (after normalizing the values (so that min=0, max=1). This would model the odds of correct answers, what seems a sensible thing to do.Since this is not such a standard procedure and you said you are “new to statistics”, I also strongly suggest to get help from a statistician from your university. I would not recommend non-parametric analyses because they will be hard to interpret in a practically meaningful way.View

Native DUTCH listeners for a short trực tuyến auditory perception test?Question2 answers
It is certainly a long shot but…For a PhD project on speech perception, we are looking for native Dutch listeners to participate in a short trực tuyến auditory perception test (10min). So far, we have only found 30 listeners. Does anybody know any Dutch network we could contact to try increase our listeners sample or any Dutch list we could forward our test? Many thanks in advance!Relevant answerSofie Schrey
AnswerAs a Belgium-based researcher, I can recommend asking a colleague from a university in the Dutch-speaking area (Flanders and the Netherlands) for permission to post your call for participants on one of their general message boards. KU Leuven, the University of Antwerp, and any ‘Hogeschool’ could be of help. Students know the importance of surveys, and while the turnout response may be fairly low, it would certainly increase your engagement and help your study. Meta pages of certain Flemish and Dutch cities might also allow messages for research purposes. Of course, you would have to keep in mind to preserve the representational balance in your (control) group. This apply to both the age/ level of education a large number of students would represent, as to the cultural and linguistic differences between members of the Flemish and Dutch participants respectively (not to mention the significant differences between speakers from different Flemish provinces). If I may ask, how many people would you need to comfortably conduct your study?View

Does the acoustic reflex weaken over repeated trials?Question7 answers
I am wondering if the acoustic reflex (stapedial reflex) weakens over time in normal-hearing listeners. I am not referring to reflex decay, as is tested clinically. Rather, I am wondering the acoustic attenuation of the reflex would decline over the course of separate but repeated trials. Any reference to this regard would be enthusiastically appreciated. Thanks!Relevant answerJonathan David Binnington
AnswerBoth the Tensor Tympani and the Stapedius muscles are striated. They will fatigue if activated beyond their physiological capacities. Depending on how the acoustic stimulus is presented it will be possible to fatigue the acoustic reflex – with a continuous suprathreshold sound or if the interval between intermittent stimulation sounds is not great enough to allow muscle metabolite recovery. In the audiology world there is a distinction drawn between the reflex decay due to neural (mal)adaptation and muscle exhaustion due to continuous contraction.View

Can you listen if you have not been heard – experiences of loss.Question9 answers
I am researching the impact of grief and loss on meaningful connection. Can professionals really listen and respond appropriately to clients thoughts of suicide and experiences of loss – if they are not digesting and caring for thier own losses? Does personal disconnect lead to meaningless assessments?I am interested in any research on this area of personal experiences. Many thanks for your thoughts.Relevant answerAnn Sparks
AnswerPersonally, I believe that “I’ve not been heard,” far too much in life. But that certainly doesn’t negatively impact “my own,” ability to listen, negatively. In fact, I think it enhances my ability to listen. Empathy is a condition of humility and spiritual connectedness. Without humility and spiritual connectedness, the “listener” has very little motivation to truly “hear” what a person is experiencing in grief. If there isn’t significant humility, then the grieving individual’s shared experience really wouldn’t mean that much to me. But, recognizing MY OWN times of being ignored really do enhance my own ability to listen, since I recognize the injustice of being minimized/ignored during my own periods of grief/trauma.I am becoming a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, mainly because several people have stated that I “found my gift” in pediatric psychiatry. Who more needs someone to really LISTEN to them than pediatrics who have mental health problems and are in crisis? I believe taking the time to listen to children, and discover what’s really “eating their lunch,” underneath the behavior problems, is critical to being a good provider of mental health services. I suppose I wouldn’t have a passion for this area of health care, had I not experienced significant difficulties myself, and have compassion for them, and what they need to share… AND FEEL HEARD/understood. After all, BEING HEARD is one of the most basic of human needs.Good question, by the way!View

What are the solutions to moral decadence and youthful exhuberance in the society today?Question4 answers
Technology and the increasing fast trends in globalization have turned the society upside down. The youths are the fast hit in these changing trends. Students in the secondary schools join cult groups, and they perform all initiations attached to the different cult groups. Even when it is their turn to perform the rituals and sacrifices, they donate whoever they want, be it their parents or siblings. Before their people could realize these, things must have been spoilt. There is tremendous moral decay in the society. This is due to lack of censorship in the films, videos and music that the children watch and listen to. Parents and guardians feel less concerned to what pertains to their children and ward’s welfare. One would say that they are doing all these out of youthful exuberance. But any youth that grew up with the fear of God will exhibit limitations in what the person does. How many principals, teachers, or instructors these days try to correct their students who dress improperly and come to school? Take a morning look students who go to school – The girls in very tight and mini uniforms, the boys in their ass – level trousers pulling below their boxers…This is technology and the changing trends in education. We have to note that students who come to school naked will end up tomorrow as miscreants in the society. They will dress up as naked people tomorrow either taking drugs or becoming alcoholics, committing one crime or the other . The English adage says, ” That a stitch in time saves nine,” and “prevention is better than cure.”Youths should be taught the right path to positive living. The boys who wear torn trousers and fry their hair and wear an ear – ring in one ear does not make them either good musicians, international footballers, or even star actors. These looks and attachments make the one look irresponsible and mean.Women and girls who wear mini – skirts and dresses to seduce and lure men into their debasable trap debase their womanhood and make them worthless before their men.Indecent dressing is a criminal act, because it can make the seducer and seducee to be in an uncontrollable state to commit crime. The society should correct this trend, because if it is left unchecked, then the next word to be coined after society is “DOOM.”Relevant answerDeborah Ninan

Has the effect of metronome on developing consistency and frequency been measured ( as proccess, not just as a result)?Question1 answer
I am looking for articles that explain the metronome’s/tempo’s/tapping’s effect on the listener. Anything that can be related to boosting the learning procedure(e.g learning music-playing skills) Relevant answerJosé Miguel Belisario Gavazut
AnswerHi Evangelos,From a technical rather than practical point of view I can say: YES! In practical terms, the beat carrier is a drumer or another type of percussionist, and how he/she feels the moment of performing affects the tempo. Similarly, I can tell that as a bass player you also have that power of speeding up and/or slowing down the whole band. But as a guitar player, I’ve never experienced having that power. In technical terms: ABSOLUTELY! I, as a music producer (chill-out, techno-rock and EDM, among others), have been led to being more sensitive in terms of sensing beats due to the rpm settings and metronomes of the different virtual studios and sequencers (the computer they are installed in also affects the beats!): this tuy nhiên is 135 or 90 or N rpm. I now can even usually tell first listening what tempo a playing tuy nhiên is . I now even play the guitar over rock/hindu/arabic/chanson francaise, etc. songs and know when the beat is going to go up or down (usually 3 or 4 and even 5 times in a single tuy nhiên!).Hope I’ve helped.Regards,José View

How to construct the Fama French factors?Question6 answers
Dear community,For my Master Thesis, I am planning to replicate the Fama French 5 factor model from scratch. However, I encounter a practical problem in constructing the factors. In order to construct, for example, the factor SMB, I need to divide my dataset in two parts with respect to size and in three parts with respect to value/growth stocks (as explained in your papers). My question is how do you do this? The dataset I uses consists of approximately 8000 companies with a range of approximately 50 years in panel-data format. What techniques should I use in order to create these factors? And should I do this in panel-data format or time-series format? I thought using time-series format (i.e. one column for every firm) I might be able to make the distinctions since every firm had one own specific variable. However, unfortunately, my dataset is too large in order to convert it into time-series format (even when I try to divide it in subsamples). Using panel-data however, all firms are listen underneath one variable and hence I struggle with the question on how to divide these firms into different groups in order to create the factors.I hope you can help me with my problems!Yours truly,Niek van der SchaafRelevant answerKhanh Hoang

Noise uses to cause negative impact on humans on different levels.I am wonder whethet it is possible to turn out those negative effects and help the perceiver to enjoy rather the sound instead of suffering from it. Next question is how this process could be created? I propose a focused attention toward a single, patriculary details of the noise. However, could it be achived by another way?Anorther iquiry is whether the atonal music could be used as relevant eqivalence for noice?Relevant answerNicolas Meeus
AnswerHow do you define “noise”? Your idea that atonal music could be equivalent to noise is troublesome. The American Standard Association defines “noise” either as “any undesired sound” or as “an erratic, intermittent, or statistically random oscilation”. The first definition appears to exclude the possibility of a “positive” affect, which would contradict the idea of “undesired”. The second definition is somewhat problematic, especially in the case of music. It appears to derive from a 19th-century idea which opposed “musical sound” and “noise”, defining the musical sound as having pitch, i.e. a stable frequency.Early atonal music (say the 20th-century Viennese one) would consist of “musical sounds” according to this definition. More recent “music of noise” would not. See ://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noise_music.View

As speaker, how do you react when part of your large audience is keenly listening but especially those the back are talking or networking?Question11 answers
As guest of honour in an alumni meeting of a business school I was invited to give a speech of about 15 minutes. It was organized in the large room of a khách sạn. There were about 150 alumnus/students in the room. While those in front were keenly listening, many of those the back were interacting with old classmates whom they might have met after a long time. Some were even standing and talking. I am mostly uncomfortable in such an environment. I did not know whether to stop speaking by way of protest or continue speaking. There was another speaker who face a more severe problem than me in this regard. I am sure, those sitting in the front rows were enjoying as I could observe from their body toàn thân language and interaction with some after the speech. Somehow, I kept speaking for about 15 minutes. When I told the organizers that it was their duty to make the audience behave in a disciplined way, they said that alumni does like to be so told so as we tried to do that in the past, and they say that they come there for networking with batch mates. What are the warning signs and caveats for a superlative physician / doctor? Relevant answerVinod Kumar Gupta
AnswerRafael,Thank you for participating, and, for putting forth some very pertinent points.I think you will find the following useful. I am now in my seventh decade, having worked as a physician for almost 45 years, and, have dealt with around 30 patients per day, say a total of approximately 300,000 patients, very likely more. On some days for 18 years, I would see over 100 patients per day.I have made some rules of thumb, that you will find very useful. At the beginning of any session, after introductory formalities are over and the vital statistics are flicked over, I turn to my patients, and ask them how may I help them.1) I NEVER INTERRUPT THE FIRST 3-5 SENTENCES FROM THE PATIENT. IT NEVER TAKES MORE THAN 2 MINUTES. AT THIS TIME I AM HYPER-ATTENTIVE, DESPITE THE NOISES OF THE OUTPATIENT DEPARTMENT. 2) In these 2 minutes, I make out a SINGLE MAJOR PRIMARY COMPLAINT.3) I NEVER INTERRUPT THE PATIENT FOR THE FIRST 2 MINUTES.4) IF THE PATIENT SPEAKS LESS and I step in to cover up for the next 2-3 minutes.5) IF THE PATIENT IS VOLUBLE BEYOND 5 minutes, I GENTLY ESCORT THEM OVER TO THE COUCH TO EXAMINE.6) IN FOUR DECADES OF MANAGING PATIENTS, I HAVE NEVER FAILED TO DO JUSTICE TO ANT PATIENT. 7) Once on the couch, patients rarely speak further.8) BEYOND 5 minutes is my time–what I chose to spend with a patient.9) At 5 minutes per patient, you can see 12-15 patients in 1 hour, and, keep the Insurance company also happy. 10) Do not prescribe more than 2-3 medicines on first visit. If you prescribe more, you do not know what you are treating in the outpatients.Take it from an old physician: 2 minutes/3 sentences/primary complaint/couch-10 RULES – and you are done. With in-patients, we all necessarily take longer. After 5 minutes or so, consultation changes to conversation, and, is generally non-contributory, except in really tough cases. You should approach the inpatient bed with a 10-15 minutes frame of mind (no more), and, go back to your writing desk/office/workstation. If you spend more than 10 minutes, you have not been listening well. The physical examination of a comatose patient/GBS/complex multi-valve cardiac disorder can be completed in 10 minutes, if your mind knows what is to be sought. With intensivists/lab/ECG/X-ray/cannula/ infusion order/specialist’s referral — write in 5 minutes and move on. Come back again to the patient later. Try it. It really works.View

Does the traditional sociolinguistic concept of code-switching adequately describe what speakers do when communicating using more than one language?Question12 answers
The default academic assumption in linguistics is that people speak one language a time. So when speakers code-switch, so the theory goes, they draw from a competent understanding of more than one language they have in common with another speaker and switch from one grammar to the other various predictable junctures. Why not view it, if just for fun, from the perspective that the default is that people use whatever linguistic tools or other communicative devices are their disposal regardless of how we might categorize what belongs to what language and regardless of competence within a language?Recently, I listened as my Mexican neighbor, who has very limited English ability, conversed with my USA-born son, who picked up limited Spanish from co-workers over the past decade or so. With each understanding very little of each other’s native vocabulary and unable to execute much formal syntax of the respective non-native language, they managed to get the message through. At times, they drew from a sign language that neither speaker had any systematic understanding of.Does the situation of limited ability in a language describe the norm, or does communication necessarily grow from a competent internalized grammar of more than one language? Is traditional code-switching among competent speakers just an extension of cases where the speakers might be less than competent in any common language?Relevant answerEhsan Mohammed Abdelgadir

Selecting best ANN or ANFIS ModelQuestion3 answers
Dear Prof/Dr/Eng/Mr/Ms.Good day everyone. Recently I came across a problem when I am calculating for the different performance criteria i.e. R-squared, RMSE, MAE or SMAPE for different ANN/ANFIS architecture. LoRaWAN End-device Roaming?Question2 answers
Consider a moving LoRaWAN end-device, while transmitting data, such as a tracking application.First case: the end-device within the coverage of gateways belonging to a network server (trang chủ NS).Second case: the end-device is out of the cover of trang chủ NS.For the first case, the end device is only uplink the data and any gateway reception will be forwarded to trang chủ NS.But in the second case, I noticed that LoRaWAN 1.1 was taking charge of roaming.Q1- But with even roaming tư vấn, how will the device detect that the coverage of trang chủ NS is no longer available and its now under the coverage of new NS (Visited NS)? In my understanding, class C always listen to RX2, so when location changes class C detects this change by the new beacons received on RX2 holding the prefix ID of Visit NS. Class B is the same, listen periodical on RX2. But Class A will transmit without listening or detect. After the transmission Class A will detect that under the coverage of visited NS. Class A transmission will cause interference and collision with current devices on the visited network. Q2- What is the difference between passive and handover roaming? Which one is better in the case above? Or listen before talk LBT is better?Relevant answerWael Ayoub
AnswerThank you Margaret, So in [1], Passive roaming: the device doesnt even know that it is roaming, and the visited network forwards the uplink to the home network. The device is associated with different keys for signing uplinks and downlinks, and only the home network server is able to read downlinks.Mobile hand-over roaming: the device exchanges with the visited network, and is given a new address and radio parameters by this network. Data is still routed through the home network. The device however has to broadcast a rejoin request periodically to initiate the roaming process, which may require a specific setting and could have impacts on battery usage.[1] ://.diffractionanalysis/news/2022/02/iot-roaming-much-international-coverage. I can rarely go a hour listening, etc to people (who speak English) without hearing/seeing DELUSION. [ Likely true of humans in general.] Question2 answers
I must now, least for a moment, speak more generally: FIRST: _YES_, I said DELUSION and meant it in its typical and serious meaning. We must curb clearly (when examined realistically and rationally — and all based on REAL actual experience, as it is) wrongful behavior (HERE: action), speech, and thought, _OR_ I profoundly ‘feel’ the clear sense of misery and extinction. I, myself, and with and for those I know well, ‘see’ all this with certainty, too — though it is possible not all of these people ‘sense’ doom, admittedly. I do (for what that might be worth).I say most-active efforts must personally be made to curb _ALL_ of this, no matter how benign it may SEEM to be (for reasons YOU can understand as well) — THAT IS my view. (What may seem like “a little” may beget A LOT.) (Thus-changing MAY or may not be possible; it IS clearly unlikely, looking “theory” (esp. Psychology; and, its research), philosophy, and history: but this should make us really try, not give up.) [ Before extinction: many, many terrible troubles may precede this (of course). Not wanting to be so thoroughly unpleasant, let me say: Have a nice day. Reading all my “stuff” would help, this day and henceforth. (WE must stop playing in the ‘fields’ of our Earth.)P.S. I posted a very positive and affirmative (pro-adaptation) answer to: https://www.researchgate.net/post/How_do_you_choose_between_two_or_more_mutually_exclusive_hypotheses_with_equal_explanatory_power_and_scope . Selecting Input Parameters for ANFISQuestion6 answers
Dear all,Good day everyone. As we know that ANFIS is a memory consuming tool and it’s highly dependent on the number of parameters.I am planning to construct a model with single output, but I am having 10 input parameters. I would like to ask every expert here, is there any better way in selecting the input parameters? Some shared with me saying that finding the RMSE of each input variable to the output, the lowest RMSE will be ranked 1st. However I am just curious isn’t the number as well as type of membership will also be affecting the input parameter?I am looking forward to listen to all experts answer. Why is it hard to control ones emotions? Question72 answers
Respected RG fellows,Why is it hard for us to control our emotions? Why do we often tend to listen to our hearts when its about admiration and amicable situations while we listen to our minds when we are irked or in agony?I would be really obliged for your views on the same.Thank you. Regards,SQ
Relevant answerMohammed Hamada Musleh
AnswerDear Sahar QaziLet me explain:Emotional reactions are coded in our genes and while they do vary slightly individually and depending on circumstances. See what I mean? Emotions are a lower-level response by our brains. (Left side of the picture)Simple example: When a magician amazes a crowd with a great magic trick. A large percentage of the crowd watching the magic trick, will be awed. Or when you feel hungry When you fall, get hurt, and feel pain.Emotions require of two things: The emotional state (awe/hunger/pain) and the experience ( magic show/ didnt eat/ falling down).A feeling is the mental portrayal of what is going on in your body toàn thân when you have an emotion. It is the byproduct of your brain perceiving and assigning meaning to the emotion. (Right side of the picture)Feelings play out in our minds only. Feelings, like emotions, cannot be portrayed or displayed. Feelings are often fuelled by a mix of emotions, and last for longer than emotions. What I am trying to get to is: Although popular opinion says that we are able to control our emotions, we are AS GOOD/PROFICIENT as we claim to be. Why? They are partly coded to help you cope with this world. You can control some of them, but some them just happen subconsciously (coded) due to evolution of us as a species. As for feelings, let them flow – they are less prone to control and manipulation than emotions.Lets look this flow chart:Experience Emotion Feeling Naming Acting on the information the emotion provides. If you really want to master your emotions it is good practice to identify any of your shortfalls – e.g. I get angry too easily when someone gives me feedback. Try to think – Why is that? How can I manage it better? What else can be done? You can plan for that and avoid falling to your old habits. It is crucial, for us, to be able to distinguish between emotions and feelings. Google control your emotions and youll see countless articles/emotions. Yet, if you Google control your feelings..View

Please find attached the processed .xls file. All the others look like binary values. Then use Matlab to read the values, process them a little and you can hear the signal. Also, audio signals are recorded using a microphone. For playing, you might want to consider a speaker.Kind regards,Robert

Language in/justice in conferences (Language in/justice in science writing part 2)Question5 answers
This summer, I participated in two very stimulating international conferences where hundreds of scholars (sociologists, geographers, urbanists mainly) gathered and exchanged ideas. On numerous occasions I witnessed speakers struggling to convey their thought on the state of their research because of their insufficient knowledge of English. Beside the instances where the speaker barely could articulate a sentence in English, one could also mention the interesting cases of Mexicans presenters being asked questions in English by a Spanish listener or a largely French audience being welcome in English by a French speaker who had difficulties reading her English text. (On a personal note I could also mention the time spent preparing not the actual content or structure of my presentation but finding out and practicing how you pronounce some of the words…)If we accept that each has a valuable contribution to make, then it seems to me (taking into account another discussion I started too long ago) that we can either accept the status quo or question its legitimacy. We could consider it is to everyone individual responsibility to master English, or we could propose that everyone, including English native speakers who are necessarily favored by this situation, has a responsibility to address the issue. My question is : could we imagine different ways of exchanging ideas that would allow to mitigate, in part, the inequalities inherent to English use in a conference? For example could the question period more formally include time for this issue (translation questions and their implications, clarifications, questions asked in other languages)?I have heard that international meetings like the World Social Forum have tackled the issue in the past but I do not know if they have an official position or strategies to address it. Do you?Relevant answerBachir Bouhania

How does taking multiple measurements under the same condition affect experiment power and effect sizes?Question7 answers
In our research group we carry out psychophysics experiments that involve taking multiple measurements, e.g. reaction times or correct detections, under the same combination of variables. I believe that taking multiple measurements for a particular condition provides a more accurate representation of a participant’s response than if only one measurement is taken. However, I am not clear about how taking multiple measurements influences the power of an experiment, or the size of any effect found. Intrinsically, it seems like the more measurements that are taken from the same participant, the greater the power of the experiment, although I am not sure if this assumption is correct, or how you would factor the number of measurements into a power analysis. It also feels like an experiment that takes 5 measurements per condition should produce a larger effect size than an experiment that takes just 1 measurement, assuming the same size of difference between conditions, but again I am not sure if this belief is correct or how it would be quantified.A final, related question is how to treat the multiple measurements collected. Should these be averaged into one overall response per condition, per participant, or should each measurement be treated as a separate datapoint. E.g. if you take 3 measurements on the same condition for 10 participants, do you use all 30 measurements, i.e. N = 30, or average the 3 measurements for each participant so N = 10.For info, these questions came to mind after listening to the Everything Hertz podcast, episode 20 about sample sizes in Psychology studies (://soundcloud/everything-hertz/20-sample-sizes-in-psychology-studies).Thanks!Jim UttleyRelevant answerMartin Westhoven

Which room-acoustic modelling software can solve following tasks?Question6 answers
– simulation of different shapes – simulation of porous and resonance absorbers as well as diffusors- transfer function from source to receiver, including direct sound – frequency dependent ballon data for source and integration of multiple sources – simulation of full hearing rangeThe aim is to simulate a 120m³ listening room of a recording studio and a comparison with the already built room. Relevant answerGabriel Mello Silva
AnswerFor small rooms, simulation programs based on geometrical acoustics algorithms (like Odeon, CATT and EASE) will not help you as the results are unreliable in low frequencies (namely, below the Schroeder’s frequency of your room). Additionally, for small volumes, room modes take an important role in determining the sound field, which is not considered in such simulations. So, for the simulation of the room, if you really need it, you can search for programs based on Finite Element Method (FEM) acoustics, which are more suitable for this case. I know this one, but I never tested it:://.mediterraneanacoustics/olive-tree-lab—room-modes.htmlAnyway, there are many commercial softwares based on FEM, but usually they are specific for different applications. For “simulation of porous and resonance absorbers as well as diffusors” you can use programs for calculating absorption and transmission of multi-layer structures, like AFMG SoundFlow (không lấy phí for a month).View

AnswerI think that philosophy is always the level of the respective state of science and technology, especially since a whole series of philosophers have also embarked on a full study of physics, biology or chemistry, also in the context of mathematics and technology, just as scientists and engineers have embarked on philosophy. The more the possibility of human self-destruction begins to become reality and how today the quality of life of later generations is in danger of being diminished by the exploitation of limited resources, by war or by omission of measures, the more the question of the limits of technology, growth and political oppression becomes an issue in philosophy. Where can I find audio files ranked with MUSHRA points?Question3 answers

(MUSHRA stands for MUltiple Stimuli with Hidden Reference and Anchor)For any help I’ll be very grateful.RegardsMarekRelevant answerMohamed Abdallah Turky
Answer MUSHRA stands for MUltiple Stimuli with Hidden Reference and Anchor and is a methodology for conducting a codec listening test to evaluate the perceived quality of the output from lossy audio compression algorithms. It is defined by ITU-Rrecommendation BS.1534-3.[1] The MUSHRA methodology is recommended for assessing “intermediate audio quality”. For very small audio impairments, Recommendation ITU-R BS.1116-3 (ABC/HR) is recommended instead. The main advantage over the mean opinion score (MOS) methodology (which serves a similar purpose) is that MUSHRA requires fewer participants to obtain statistically significant results.[citation needed] This is because all codecs are presented the same time, on the same samples, so that a paired t-test or a repeated measures analysis of variance can be used for statistical analysis. Also, the 0-100 scale used by MUSHRA makes it possible to rate very small differences. In MUSHRA, the listener is presented with the reference (labeled as such), a certain number of test samples, a hidden version of the reference and one or more anchors. The recommendation specifies that a low-range and a mid-range anchor should be included in the test signals. These are typically a 7kHz and a 3.5kHz low-pass version of the reference. The purpose of the anchors is to calibrate the scale so that minor artifacts are not unduly penalized. This is particularly important when comparing or pooling results from different labsView

Is Data-Driven Learning(DDL) not applicable to primary-level students?Question4 answers
I am wondering whether data-driven learning (DDL) is only applied to secondary students or college students (adults) in the case of ELT.If yes, what if DDL were adapted appropriately to the primary-school level?I would like to listen to your varying opinions.Relevant answerReza Biria
AnswerHello, Since its foundation by Tim Johns (1991), DDL has proved to be a meritorious approach whereby the focus is more on learning rather than teaching . Notably, DDL provides learners with large quantities of authentic data called the electronic corpus so that they can play an active role in the learning process exploring the textual features of language by themselves in order to detect the underlying patterns dominating language use. In DDL, learners are the center of the process because they have to take more responsibility for their own learning rather than being taught rules passively. Consequently, certain pedagogical benefits such as (learner-centredness , discovery learning, autonomisation, authentic language use , etc. ) are quite prevalent in DDL helping learners explore a targeted corpus to discover the basic generalizations work in language use. Despite a number of objections or fears behind the use of DDL primary levels, it is argued that DDL is a promising approach appealing both to teachers and learners in ordinary language teaching contexts only if more time and energy are spent in the process. Transcription of whole record is MUST of qualitative research? Cant’ I listen my data several times and just transcript some parts which I need? Question8 answers
Is there transcription methods? There should be something like selective transcription. Transcripting whole record sounds not a good idea to me.Relevant answerMary C R Wilson
AnswerHello,I feel that it is a good idea to transcribe the whole of each interview. Even if you have completed all your interviewing, it may be that something that seems insignificant one stage may become significant after, for example, reading something written by another researcher, that picks up on an issue that comes up in one of your interviews. It will be easier to find it if you have a word for word transcription of all your interviews. If you are still in the process of conducting your interviews, and using what you have found out in earlier interviews to inform later interview guides, then again, what you felt was insignificant might gain significance if a later participant picks up in the same point. And you decide to follow the particular theme in further interviews. When I was transcribing interviews for my original (PhD) research (that I then followed up after 5 and 10 years), some of the interviews were transcribed by other people, and I then listened to the tape recording and read the transcripts. But I felt I knew the data so much better of the interviews that I had transcribed myself. In my follow-up studies, I was working by myself, but continued to transcribe everything, even though, I suppose, I could have ‘cut corners’.I hope this was helpful.Very best wishes,Mary View

Can millimetre wave relay transmit and receive pilots during beamtraining , assuming it is operates in half duplex mode?Question1 answer
Suppose I have a millimeter wave relay system with one BS, one relay and one UE. During beam training, assuming exhaustive search technique, can the relay simultaneously receive pilots from BS and transmit pilots to the UE for the purpose of beamtraining. The Relay can be considered to be operating in half duplex mode, for example, it listens to the pilots from BS in a band and transmits the pilots to the UE in a different band simultaneously. If that is the case, is it correct to consider that the beamtraining or the cell search latency for the entire BS-Relay-UE link is maximum of time taken between of BS-Relay link and Relay-UE link?Relevant answerHongwu Liu

What should be the wright volume for a hearing frequency range test?Question1 answer
Hi guys,I want to do a frequency range test before my actual experiment involving another listening test. But I am not sure what is the right way to choose the correct volume of the signal and the speakers. My plan is to create a volume control (a knob or increment button) each frequency point (e.g. 15k, 16k..) to move from -60db to 0db of signal and keeping 0db signal around 50dba in the room. Is there a more standard/citable way to conducting this experiment.ThanksJiajun Relevant answerDimitar Spirrov
AnswerThere are ISO and ANSI standards that show how the loudness vary with the frequency. One ISO-curve should, in normal haring listeners, result in equal loudness. You could follow one ISO-curve (e.g. 60 dB curve from fig. 4 of the attachment) that gives a comfortable loudness and adapt the volume accordingly. However, I am unsure of whether these standards are valid for frequency above 10 kHz. It is also better to check the response of the loudspeaker. Finally, you should also correct the volume for the way of sound presentation (binaural, monaural, không lấy phí field, headphones, etc).Good luck,Dimitar
