When performing range of motion exercises it is important to?

It is important with ROM exercises not to force movements and to stop a movement if it causes you pain. Damage to the joint space can occur if too much force is applied. Joint range of motion is done on one joint a time.

When performing range of motion exercises each movement should be repeated?

Unless ordered otherwise, move each joint through its ROM three times least twice a day. Support each joint to be exercised, stabilize the bones above the joint, and move the body toàn thân part distal to the joint through its ROM.

What guideline will the nurse consider when performing range of motion exercises on a patient?

*Guidelines to follow when performing range of motion include returning the joint to a neutral position when finishing each exercise. The nurse should not perform range-of-motion exercises until the patient is fatigued because the exercises are not to exhaust or tax the individual.

What principles should be observed all times when performing ROM exercises?

Perform exercises slowly and provide adequate tư vấn to each joint being exercised. When performing active-assisted or passive ROM exercises, tư vấn joint by holding DISTAL portion of extremety or using cupped hand to tư vấn joint. When resistance is noted within a joint, do not force joint motion.
