The resolution on my máy tính (Dell Precision M4800) is 3840×2160 which I love. But when I connect to servers via remote desktop the remote computers are almost unusable because everything is too small. What can I do to make remote desktop connections a little more easy on the eyes?

I’ve got the same issue logging into a 2008 R2 server from a Windows 10 máy tính. I’ve had to just drop the screen resolution before remoting in, but that’s not much fun.

You should be able to change the size of the remote desktop in the settings of the RDP program (assuming it’s Remote Desktop Connection, that’s built into Windows) by hitting “Show Options” and going to “Display”. Else, you’ll have to fall back to 2560×1440 or 1920×1080 resolution on your máy tính every time you want to use it.

If your using the builtin Remote Desktop Connection – under ‘show options”://moiday/”Display’ tab you can alter the resolution

I would do this.
Or you can limit the Resolution on the server side if you have many clients having the same issue.

Yes, it’s the built in Remote Desktop program. I just noticed that if I remote into a Server 2012 R2 box it scales the screen correctly and looks beautiful, but when I log into a 2008 R2 box I don’t get the correct screen scaling. Is there a way to fix this?

In 08R2 maximum resolution is 4096×2048.
Which is why it looks weird with your 3840×2160

Here’s what it looks like if I set the remote desktop connection to use 1920×1200 resolution. It’s basically unusable.

So just to clarify I think this is a screen scaling issue, not a resolution issue.

You could try to modify the RDP file directly with notepad.
